Title: Cloud robotics and networked intelligence.
Abstract: Robot autonomy enhancement can be achieved through data, knowledge, skills and even intelligence sharing. 5G and beyond networks provide the means of accomplishment of cloud robotics and network intelligence to support such sharing due to their high capacity and low latency. The challenge is on the optimisation of resources from both network communication and robot application perspectives, as robotic applications, among all others, in 5G networks are considered as verticals. Our research developed a bridge between ROS and 5G networks, allowing the orchestration of resources such as data, models and computation power for robotic applications to take place with regard to the shortest distance and immediate availability. Our research has been developed and tested in scenarios of manufacturing, transport and healthcare under 5G-ERA project which was funded by H2020 ICT-41 Programme.
